Malnourishment:
Sadly, the areas in Guatemala where Grace Centre serves are riddled with contaminated water supplies, which result in
malnourished children. Children suffering malnourishment are underdeveloped, lack energy and confidence. The worst
cases of malnutrition result in premature death or permanent damage to a child’s brain called “brain stunting”.
Young babies and children under the age of 6 in Guatemala are the most vulnerable to the poor living conditions which
surround them in Grace Centre’s affiliated communities. They suffer dramatically from contaminated water and
inadequate supplies of nutrition. Without intervention, the child’s potential is affected in every aspect of life. The
resulting brain and body stunting keeps children permanently emotionally and intellectually impaired.
Grace Centre’s current project will help provide the vital foundation of health and life: CLEAN DRINKING water and
critical services that will help prevent the catastrophic effect of malnutrition on the young child’s brain and body.
